Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm, including on call rota dependent on team size; 4:30PM-8:00AM including weekends

We are seeking a motivated and versatile Multi Trade Operative to join our established team supporting RAF Fairford and RAF Welford. This is an exciting opportunity to work across a diverse estate where no two days are the same. You'll play a vital role in delivering repairs, maintenance, compliance activities and refurbishment projects that directly contribute to operational readiness across the Defence estate.

The Role As a Multi Trade Operative, you will be responsible for carrying out reactive maintenance, repairs and minor works across RAF Fairford and RAF Welford, with the majority of your time based at Fairford and travel to Welford as required. A company van and fuel card will be provided to support travel between sites. Working as part of a close-knit team of skilled operatives, you will undertake a varied workload across both domestic and commercial buildings. Typical tasks may involve basic plumbing, electrical repairs, plastering, mechanical maintenance and general building repairs. The role requires someone who is adaptable and able to switch priorities quickly in response to changing operational requirements and emergency callouts. All work will be scheduled and allocated digitally through a tablet or mobile device, enabling you to manage your workload efficiently while maintaining accurate records of completed tasks. Alongside maintenance responsibilities, there will be occasions where you will support general storekeeping and yard duties, helping to ensure the smooth running of the site. This role offers a balance of independent working and teamwork. While many tasks will be completed through lone working, you'll also collaborate closely with colleagues and support the wider engineering team to deliver an exceptional service across the estate.

What you’ll need You will have practical experience within a maintenance, facilities, construction or housing environment and be comfortable undertaking a wide variety of repair tasks. Experience gained within domestic properties, commercial premises or both will be considered. While formal trade qualifications are advantageous, they are not essential. We are equally interested in candidates who can demonstrate strong hands-on experience supported by excellent references and a proven track record of delivering quality workmanship. You will possess a good understanding of Health and Safety requirements, including COSHH and RIDDOR regulations, and demonstrate a proactive approach to safe working practices. Strong problem-solving skills, excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage your own workload effectively are essential for success in this role. To be considered, you must hold a full UK Driving Licence and be able to obtain Security Clearance (SC). You should be reliable, punctual, self-motivated and confident communicating with colleagues, customers and stakeholders at all levels.
