Here at Serco, we are looking for an Industries Prison Support Officer to join the team at our new state of the art Category C prison, HMP Fosse Way. The role of an Industries Prison Support Officer is to participate in the daily operations of the industries building and the workshops/classrooms therein. Alongside this, assist in coordinating the wider purposeful activity spaces across HMP Fosse Way, ensuring the right prisoners are engaging in the right activities at the right time.
Support staff in a variety of workshop areas within Industries such as: Waste Management, Lighting, Barista academy, Music production and a Resettlement Hub which will require you to work within a team and at times on your own. Escort prisoners, contractors, visitors and vehicles to and from the industries building.
Responsibilities- OSS staff will support tutors and staff within the industries building to provide purposeful activity to maximise and provide opportunities for prisoners to engage in work, education and training that will benefit their rehabilitation and the efficient running of the prison.
- Support industries staff to maximise opportunities for prisoners to engage in work, education and training that will benefit their rehabilitation and the efficient running of the prison.
- Ensure the safe control of the flow of movements from the prisoner wings to the industries workshops in a timely and efficient manner.
- Monitor prisoner attendance in activities and report concerns to the Industries PA Manager.
- Ensure the safe issue and control of keys and radios.
- Carry out escorting duties in accordance with Local Security Strategy & National Security Framework.
- Keep accurate records to ensure an audit trail and Health and Safety standards are maintained at all times.
- Maintain visual surveillance and monitor the establishment for potential incidents and notify any areas of potential incidents which may appear to be arising.
- Control all movements throughout the establishment, to always ensure safe and secure control at all times.
