12 months fixed term contract (Maternity Cover) Full Time, Monday – Friday, 37 hours per week. This is an exciting and varied role within the Military HR/Pay and Allowances department of the Defence Academy of the UK, an MOD site near Shrivenham Village. Embedded with our MOD colleagues, the team are responsible for the accurate management of pay, allowances and many other aspects of the UK Military HR packages. The ideal candidate will demonstrate excellent customer service skills, possess a high level of attention to detail, be organised, able to prioritise and have a good capacity for learning new skills and understanding regulations. Full training and ongoing mentoring will be provided. While this position is to cover a period of maternity leave, we know that there will be a permanent contract becoming available in the short-term and hope that the person recruited can become a permanent member of our team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Providing a wide range of administrative support to military personnel
- Adhering to MOD policies and regulations in order to provide accurate advice and support
- Responsible for assisting in monthly payroll accuracy checks, responding to pay related queries from military personnel and advise and assist with expense queries
- Managing data entry between a variety of different systems
What you’ll need to do the role:
- The ideal candidate will be an experienced Administrator with a good level of general education, preferably with the following: GCSE’s (A-C) or equivalent in English and Maths
- Must be methodical, have proven organisational skills and able to work to tight deadlines
- Problem solving skills are a must in this role
- Experience using the MS Office suite of applications
- Due to the nature of this role, you will be required to complete the Security Check (SC) process within the first 3 months of employment. Serco will arrange this on your behalf.
