Location: Hitchin - Hybrid working

Salary: £45,300 per year, with salary uplifts of £1,000 after 6 months and a further £10,000 after 12 months of employment.

Schedule: Full time and Part time opportunities. Monday – Friday, no nights or weekends.

As a Functional Assessor in our Health Assessment Advisory Service team, you’ll carry out meaningful work on behalf of the Department for Work and Pensions to understand how a person’s health condition affects their daily life. Through fair, comprehensive assessments, you’ll help create a positive impact for millions of people. This role gives Registered Nurses (RGN, RMN & RNLD), Physiotherapists, Paramedics, Occupational Therapists and Pharmacists the chance to use your clinical expertise in a new way. What You’ll Do

  • Speak with customers by phone, face to face or online.
  • Carry out functional health assessments and gather accurate, detailed information.
  • Consult with treating healthcare professionals where appropriate.
  • Produce fair, high‑quality reports on behalf of the Department for Work and Pensions.
  • Use your observational, communication and note‑taking skills to ensure every customer is treated with care and respect.

Does this sound like you?

  • One year of post‑registration experience as a Nurse (RGN, RMN, RNLD), Occupational Therapist, Physiotherapist, Paramedic or Pharmacist.
  • Full registration with a relevant UK regulatory body (NMC, HCPC or equivalent), with an active PIN and no restrictions.
  • Strong communication and listening skills, with the ability to write concise, accurate reports.
  • Good IT skills and the ability to work efficiently under time pressures.

All our Functional Assessors must successfully complete the full pre‑employment security screening process, including an Enhanced DBS check, before starting in role.
