About the Role

We’re looking for a proactive and detail-driven Void Maintenance Officer to manage and protect unoccupied Service Family Accommodation (SFA). In this mobile role, you’ll ensure empty properties remain secure, compliant and in excellent condition, ready for the next family who needs them. You’ll work independently with support from the Delivery Manager, carrying out regular inspections, managing reactive maintenance needs and providing essential reports that keep our operations running smoothly. This is a role for someone who thrives on autonomy, responsibility and making a meaningful impact.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • You will be responsible for managing all SFA properties within your VOID Maintenance area. This includes completing detailed site survey reports when you take over or hand back a property, supported by a clear photographic record of internal and external condition.
  • You will record any defects, produce rough scopes of work and identify opportunities to improve our maintenance approaches for better value and efficiency.
  • Security and safety are key parts of the role. You will conduct risk assessments and implement appropriate security measures, ensure each property remains weatherproof and maintained, and notify your supervisor immediately if you detect unauthorised access or vandalism.
  • You will maintain heating and water systems appropriately to prevent deterioration and ensure the property remains compliant with statutory and mandatory requirements throughout its VOID period.
  • You will submit regular weekly and monthly reports to your line manager and ensure all relevant utilities information is passed to the Utilities team. Ultimately, your goal is to ensure every home leaves VOID maintenance in no worse condition than when it entered.
  • Alongside these responsibilities, you will lead by example across the VIVO contract, working collaboratively with colleagues across VIVO, the Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO), Pinnacle and our supply chain partners.

What We’re Looking For

You should have experience in a role where performance is closely measured and have a background in service delivery. You’ll be self-motivated, capable of working independently, and confident using Microsoft Office, tablets and other digital devices. A full UK driving licence is essential. It would also be beneficial if you have experience in VOID property repairs and maintenance, knowledge of MOD environments or familiarity with areas such as asbestos regulations, disability access requirements or energy performance standards.

Why Join VIVO?

At VIVO, you’ll be part of a mission that truly matters. Every inspection you complete, every issue you resolve and every home you safeguard directly supports the wellbeing of military families. You will enjoy the freedom of a home-based, mobile role while being supported by a strong and collaborative team. Bring your skill, your enthusiasm and your commitment to excellence, and we’ll give you the platform to grow, develop and genuinely make a difference.
