As an Engineering Technician and Trainer at RAF Brize Norton, you will make a real and visible impact on day‑to‑day operations by ensuring vital aviation equipment is maintained, ready, and fit for purpose. Your contribution helps support operational effectiveness and the systems that are critical to mission delivery and ongoing airworthiness. In this role, you’ll balance hands‑on technical delivery with knowledge sharing, helping to maintain high standards across calibration, altimeter maintenance and specialist training. It’s a role with real purpose, where precision, trust and care come together to create a positive impact on operational capability.

What you’ll do as an engineering technician and trainer:

  • Control, test and calibrate MOD test equipment in line with MOD Air publications and approved Manual of Military Air systems
  • Maintain, service and manage altimeters, ensuring accurate records and full compliance with airworthiness requirements
  • Deliver Precision Termination Tooling (PTT) and Electrical Wiring Interconnect Systems (EWIS) training and presentations as required
  • Act as a focal point of expertise for EWIS training, supporting customers and colleagues with clear, accurate guidance
  • Support across the Altimeter Bay and EWIS areas during periods of absence to ensure business continuity
  • Ensure all work is correctly certified, recorded and retained to meet statutory, quality and audit requirements

Does this sound like you?

  • An engineering or aviation qualification such as BTEC, ONC, NVQ Level 3 or military equivalent
  • Relevant experience within the aviation industry, with a strong understanding of air safety and airworthiness
  • The ability to remain current and competent in risk management, human factors and error management
  • Confidence using Microsoft Office applications, including Excel and Word
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills, with the confidence to deliver training and technical briefings

Vetting And Checks:

This role requires Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) clearance, which involves verifying your identity, employment history, nationality, and criminal record to meet government security standards. Depending on the nature of the role, you may also need to obtain formal Security Clearance (such as CTC or SC). UK residency requirements may apply for certain levels of clearance. You will also complete an Occupational Health Questionnaire to identify and provide any support you may need to undertake the role effectively.
