We’re recruiting for a driven and dedicated Electrician to join our FM team at Yarl\’s Wood IRC, a fully contained residential centre housing adult men and women. We focus on decency and respect in all aspects of care for our residents and use continuous innovation to further improve and develop our service.
As the FM Electrician you will carry out fault finding and defect rectification to items of electrical plant and equipment, pre-planned maintenance of items of electrical plant and equipment and installation of new plant and apparatus.
You will need to be able to document inspection findings and pursue fault rectifications. You will work as a part of a close-knit team however you will be expected to work independently at times. This role is ideally suited to someone starting up their Electrician career or someone who is looking to step away from vast travel and be based on site full time!
It is important to note that working in such a secure environment can be challenging at times. In return we can offer a supportive and collaborative environment that respects work/life balance and ultimately contributes to the delivery of vital public services in the UK. There will also be a need to participate on the on-call roster, which currently sits around 1 in 8 and there will be a requirement for out of hours work and weekend work required to meet business needs.
What you’ll need to do the job
You will need C & G Electrical Certificate or other recognised electrical trade qualification and you must have served a recognised trade apprenticeship and qualified to BS1 (Current Edition of the IEE Regulations).
At least 5 years associated trade experience post apprenticeship and must be prepared to undertake training courses to expand on their technical abilities if required by the business.
Finally commitment and flexibility is a must – you will work as part of on an on call rostered team, currently 1 in 9.
