Here at Serco, we are looking for experienced Electricians to carry out planned and reactive electrical and some mechanical maintenance to services on the site. The Maintenance Craftsperson (Electrical) will undertake minor improvement and minor capital works as directed by Estates management.
Main Accountabilities:
- Undertake planned preventative maintenance tasks in accordance with a computerised programme, recording actions and times taken.
- Carry out tasks and duties associated with the reactive maintenance of the site.
- Work as part of a multi-skilled team providing an efficient estates service.
- Comply with all Health and Safety Regulations.
- Ensure that requests and breakdowns are dealt with effectively and efficiently.
- Carry out all types of electrical, mechanical and/or building maintenance as requested and within competence levels.
- Interpret electrical/mechanical drawings.
- Interrogate the advanced building management system, altering temperature and humidity set points to maintain correct internal environmental conditions.
- Assemble equipment and install new electrical circuitry.
- Carry out routine electrical and mechanical planned preventative maintenance work.
- Install some minor electrical equipment i.e. pumps, power outlets and luminaries.
- Other general duties related to the maintenance department as directed by the Electrical Supervisor.
- Diagnose and repair faults in electrical equipment and systems.
- Act as sterilizer test person as directed and appointed.
- Service, test, diagnose and repair pneumatic and electronic process control systems related to modern building services environment.
- Respond to fire alarms, as a member of the fire team, including first line response to all residence fire alarms, conducting initial investigation and determining any repairs or isolations required.
- Understand the fundamental workings of all lifts (traction and hydraulic types) and coordinate safe release procedure for passengers following lift failure.
- React immediately to plant alarms and resolve the consequence of any defect.
- Carry out any requested isolation safely, for appointed contractors.
What you’ll need to do the role:
- A completed recognised appropriate Electrical Apprenticeship or other relevant structured Training Program; this could be one or more of the following: Level 3 NVQ, Level 3 National/Diploma Certificate, 18th Edition BS7671.
- Proven experience of working in a similar environment.
- Knowledge and understanding of Electrical Building Services.
- Good communication and customer service skills.
