Salary – £18,200.00 - £22,000.00 Plus Serco Benefits.

Main Accountabilities:

  • Carry out, under supervision, the following aspects, in order to meet training requirements for the HEST Apprenticeship Standard:
  • Diagnose, fault find, and repair faults on a wide range of plant, equipment and services.
  • Manufacture, assemble, erect, install and test new work including minor improvements ensuring compliance with Trust and Apprentice safety standards and procedures.
  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance to statutory requirements.
  • Carry out statutory inspections and testing of plant, equipment and services to ensure their safe operation and meet current standards.
  • Use all relevant tools and equipment as necessary and correctly.
  • Plan and evaluate and order materials for the necessary job requisitions.
  • Communicate with others on aspects of their work, including any problems encountered.
  • Plan to attend wards / departments for access or availability of room / area / equipment to carry out work as requested.
  • Participate in systems of work and complete all necessary paperwork to Statutory and Trust requirements.
  • Follow drawings, specifications under the necessary guidance of others.
  • Understand and follow financial requirements of the NHS / Employer.
  • Follow NHS Employer, Trust and statutory requirements regarding health and safety at work.
  • Attend college, training centres and other training organisations as necessary to meet requirements of the Apprenticeship Standard and NHS Employer.
  • Complete training logbooks and matrix following the completion of work carried out in the employers locations.
  • Submit all necessary paperwork to the Northern & Yorkshire NHS Assessment Centre in accordance with the apprenticeship and Standard requirements.
  • Submit all necessary paperwork to the Employer in accordance with the employer requirements.
  • Ensure all parties involved with training are kept up to date with progress and all actions and targets are achieved within timescale.

The precise details of any of the apprenticeship are dependent on a number of factors that may be subject to change at various stages of the training.

Demonstrate commitment to IWL principles and flexible working patterns, to meet the needs of the service and staff.

Tackle discrimination and harassment and promote equality and diversity in the workplace.

Reduce sickness absence; work place accidents; and promote zero tolerance on violence against staff.

Take responsibility for personal development and education and the development of a Personal Development Plan.

Control of Infection: Be aware of, and comply with, all the employing Trust infection prevention and control policies, to include hand hygiene, personal hygiene, environmental and food hygiene. To undertake annual training and updates in infection prevention and control as necessary by Trust policy.

Communication and Working Relationships: The applicant must be able to communicate with staff, patients, public, college tutors, trainers and assessors of all levels.

The most challenging part of the job: To achieve all aspects of the advanced apprenticeship framework with the timescale agreed.

Disclosure & Barring Service: This post is deemed to require a Disclosure Check – Enhanced Level with the DBS due to the fact the post has access to children or vulnerable adults.

What you’ll need to do the role:

  • Minimum grade B/5 in GCSE or equivalent in Maths.
  • Minimum grade C/4 GCSE or equivalent in other subjects to include a Science based subject.
  • Excellent written and communication skills.
  • Willing to undertake any necessary training.
  • Good team player.
  • Ability to work on own initiative.
  • Attend college as requested.
  • Be able to work at height and in confined spaces.
