Serco have a fantastic opportunity for an Aircraft Support Equipment (ASE) Coordinator to be a subject matter expert and vital point of contact for Naval Aviation units detached to HMS Gannet.

In this role you will provide management and delivery of scheduled maintenance and minor fault rectification of ASE and Aircraft Specific Support Equipment (ASSE) located at HMS Gannet in support of Merlin Helicopter Force (MHF) tasking and visiting Naval Air Squadrons (NAS). We are looking for an individual who can remain flexible regarding delivery of output with core working hours to ensure valuable support to the contract.

Key responsibilities:

  • Planning and carrying out scheduled maintenance for all ASE/ASSE held at HMS Gannet.
  • Storage and temperature monitoring of Fuels, Lubricants and Petroleum (FLAP) products used in the support ASSE/ASSE and aircraft maintenance.
  • Liaise with the SMEO’s department at RNAS Culdrose regarding rotation of ASE/ASSE from HMS Gannet for 6-monthly bay maintenance.
  • Management of all ASE/ASSE administration activity (inclusive of minor fault rectification) through the Joint Asset Management & Equipment Solutions (JAMES) database.
  • Management, prioritisation and delivery of minor fault rectification of ASE/ASSE, ensuring sustained support to MHF and visiting NAS tasking.
  • Report any equipment shortfalls that may present a capability degrade to the MHF CPO Merlin or nominated point of contact within MHF HQ.
  • Hold the Articles in Use (AinU) for ASE/ASSE acting as loan holder in accordance with MJDI and the Defence Logistics Framework.
  • Provide aircraft engineering subject matter expert support including but not limited to:
  • Advice to HMS Gannet Head of Establishment (HoE) wrt ASE/ASSE matters.
  • Act as point of contact for all military aviation units detached to HMS Gannet wrt ASE/ASSE on site.
  • Deliver facilities briefs and ASE/ASSE familiarisation as required to all military units detached to HMS Gannet.
  • Facilitate quality assurance oversight of ASE/ASSE and aviation facilities at HMS Gannet through the following:
    • Provide HMS Gannet HoE with assurance of compliance with local and higher policies for aviation equipment and facilities held there.
    • Maintain communications with nominated MHF QSC ensuring that HMS Gannet aviation related procedures remain up to date.
    • Maintain communication with nominated MHF QSC for quality audit recording and relevant fault reporting.
    • Coordinate ASE/ASSE related matters involving internal and external stakeholders to assist in identifying lessons learned and reporting air safety issues.
  • The HMS Gannet ASE Coordinator will produce/Review Support Risk/COSHH assessments where necessary.
  • All contracted tasks are carried out in accordance with current Customer Policy and Regulations and other applicable statutory Regulations.
  • Contracted tasks are completed in a timely manner.
  • The AESAS Support Manager is to be made aware of all business risks.
  • All verbal and written customer complaints and Quality issues are brought to the attention of the AESAS Support Manager.
  • The Serco Learning & Development Manager is informed when regulatory, continuation, induction, human factors, promotion, on–job and new equipment training is required for employees.
  • What you will need:

    • Experience in a military/industry airworthiness environment or equivalent.
    • Meet the requirements of RA4806 for award of MAM-P authorisations as required.
    • To have write access to JAMES, GOLDesp, MJDI and CIETP electronic systems.
    • Complete associated training for use of nominated IT systems, inclusive of but not limited to FG011SSB (GOLDesp Aircraft Supervisor) and FG011SSC (GOLDesp Workshops Coordinator).
    • Be trained and certified to operate as Unit Tool Controller.
    • Be trained to conduct servicing on ASE/GSE/HUSLE equipment.
    • Ability to be a trained ISO packer.
    • To be able to be a certified as a Risk Assessor.
    • To have successfully completed all mandatory MoD, NCHQ and local training courses iaw extant policy and regulation pertinent to civilian contract personnel working within the RNAS Culdrose Military Maintenance Organisation (MMO).
    • A good working knowledge of the following:
    • Health and Safety, the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) Regulations, Tool Control and Quality Practices.
    • Engineering and Asset Management Systems.
  • Completed a Maintenance Human Factors Course.
  • An understanding and proven experience of Airworthiness Engineering Safety and Compliance iaw Regulatory and Legislative requirements (MAA and MAOS).
  • Good people skills.
  • A strong drive to work productively, efficiently & effectively with initiative under tight timescales and pressure whilst maintaining operational outputs.
