Location: Forth Valley Royal Hospital, FK5 4EB
Salary: £13.32 per hour
Schedule: 6 months FTC – 20 hours per week, shifts 7am-7.30pm, flexible working 5 out of 7 days per week.
Ready to impact a better future? As a Retail Catering Assistant in our Health team, you’ll help deliver a warm, efficient, and supportive catering service for patients, visitors, and colleagues. Your work ensures people receive high-quality food and great customer service when they need it most. This role is all about creating a positive experience every day. From preparing food safely to supporting customers with empathy, you’ll play a vital part in helping us make a meaningful difference to the hospital community.
Responsibilities
- Provide a courteous and efficient catering service.
- Prepare and serve food professionally and safely.
- Maintain excellent customer care and support retail sales.
- Clean catering and service equipment to required hygiene standards.
- Operate tills and follow all cash‑handling procedures.
- Maintain food safety and apply HACCP procedures.
- Upsell promotions to maximise revenue.
- Complete all documentation accurately and comply with Health and Safety requirements.
- Use and care for equipment properly and report faults promptly.
- Store goods correctly and rotate stock to minimise waste.
Qualifications
- Basic food preparation or food hygiene training.
- Good communication and customer care skills.
- The ability to follow work instructions and maintain standards.
- Flexibility to work across different retail functions.
- Empathy, resilience, and a safety‑conscious mindset.
Vetting And Checks
An Enhanced DBS check is required for this role. This includes spent and unspent convictions, cautions, and any relevant information held by local police, in accordance with the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act and safeguarding requirements. You will also complete an Occupational Health Questionnaire to allow us to provide any support needed for you to succeed in the role.
