At Serco, we\’re on a mission – and we want you to be part of it. We\’re looking for a inspirational Waste Management Tutor to deliver and deliver all aspects of the recycling centre provision at HMP Ashfield, a secure facility where education is the foundation of second chances.

You\’ll empower learners with vital employability skills and assist the Curriculum Manager Core in the delivery of an education provision which increases employability, reduces the likelihood of re-offending and prepares prisoners for a successful return to the community. Also this role will work alongside the Sustainability Manager and our targets for sustainability.
What You\’ll Be Doing:
• Supervise the prisoners working in waste management
• Set up safe working practices and ensure they are followed
• Ensure the establishment\’s requirements for waste management are met
• Maintain accurate records and provide management information as required
• Set, monitor and review prisoner work targets
• Embed employability skills into the working area
• Maintain a safe environment for all prisoners
• Maintain security, order and discipline, including carrying out routine searches of
residential units and prisoners
• Understand and operate the Incentive and Earned Privilege scheme and contribute to the
prevention and management of challenging behaviour
• Ensure you keep up to date with any mandatory training, or inform the appropriate
department if you become out of date.
• Carry out PCO duties where/when required

What You\’ll Need:
. Level 5 teaching qualification or willingness to work towards it.
. Have proven experience of working in an environment that demands strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
. Have demonstrated flexibility and the ability to work to deadlines and under pressure
. Recent experience, and appropriate knowledge, of teaching Business Skills
. Experience of a custodial environment would be an advantage
. Desirable – CIWM level 3 qualification in Waste Management
