At Serco, we are looking to build a Talent Pool for Shift Operators to join the TCS Contract at Oakhanger in Bordon. The TCS contract falls under Serco's Space division, working on behalf of the US Space Force. As part of one of Serco Defence's key contracts, you will support in the overall configuration and real-time operation of a variety of satellite ground and communication systems.
Working on a rotational shift pattern, you will be part of a team to provide 24/7/366, flawless, uninterrupted satellite support. You will maintain routine operation as directed by the Shift Supervisor or designated Deputy, assisting with the performance of routine maintenance, system checks and tests, and troubleshooting/rectification.
We are looking for self-motivated, dedicated individuals to join the team. Please note full training will be provided, mentorship and support will also be provided for those with a desire to learn new skills and become an integral part of the team. In addition to salary, a Flexible Allowance will be paid for shift working as per T&Cs.
Main responsibilities of the role include:
- Comply with the Serco Management Systems, UK, Europe and TCS policies/procedures.
- Configuration and real-time operation of the Ground Station equipment.
- Maintain routine daily operation of the Communications area.
- Achieve and maintain certification in specific equipment/systems as required in accordance with site Operations procedures.
- Maintain standards of operational security in accordance with Spaceforce Operations procedures.
- Complete documentation at the direction of the Shift Supervisor, DSS or Senior Technician.
- Act as safety person for Technicians when needed.
- Follow direction given by the senior person in the allocated area.
- Provide on-the-job training for new hires as appropriate.
- Maintain standards of tidiness in the workshops and operational areas.
What you'll need to do the role:
- GCSE Grade 4/C Maths and English.
- PC Literate.
- Previous experience of working in an electrical or electronic engineering environment is preferred.
- Complete A+.
- Good knowledge of the Microsoft MS packages.
- Achieve SC Clearance.
- Full Driving Licence and a willingness to drive company vehicles.
- Willing to become a rescue climber.
