At Serco, we are proud to work on behalf of the Home Office to manage the Asylum Accommodation and Support Services Contract (AASC). Our mission is to support vulnerable asylum seekers by providing safe, high-quality accommodation and essential services as they navigate the asylum process.

We are looking for a housing officer to join our dedicated team in Liverpool. This is a static role, meaning you’ll be based in a specific area, ensuring that properties are safe, well-maintained, and compliant with AASC standards.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Conducting monthly property inspections to ensure compliance with AASC standards.
  • Managing on-boarding and withdrawal of properties in line with local operating procedures.
  • Identifying and reporting property faults, ensuring they are categorised correctly for appropriate action.
  • Performing minor property repairs, using the tools and training provided.
  • Handling operational cash administration, such as topping up utility meters and processing emergency payments.
  • Responding to and resolving customer complaints in a professional manner.

What We’re Looking For

We value people skills just as much as property experience. If you have a strong background in face-to-face roles, excel in a fast-paced environment, and can stay calm under pressure, this could be the perfect opportunity for you. While experience as a Housing Officer is preferred, we also welcome applications from candidates who have worked with vulnerable people. Strong communication skills are essential, as well as confidence in handling challenging situations such as anti-social behaviour, safeguarding concerns, and medical needs.

Due to the nature of the role, successful candidates will need to undergo Counter Terrorism Check (CTC) security clearance and a Criminal Record Bureau (CRB) check (subject to Home Office approval). To be considered, you must hold a full, clean driving license.
