12 Month Fixed Term Contract
Location - Hybrid 2-3 days onsite in Hook / Bristol (TBC)
Salary - £60-70k+ Company Car/Allowance, Bonus, PMI and Pension (up to 6%)
We are seeking an experienced Transition Manager to join our team on a 12-month fixed term contract, supporting major bid activities across high-profile defence programmes. This is a senior project manager role, focused on shaping, planning and assuring complex transitions throughout the sales lifecycle. You will work closely with Principal Transition Leads and Transition Directors to develop robust, deliverable plans that give customers and stakeholders confidence in our ability to execute.
What you'll be doing:
- Supporting major bids by defining transition scope, approach and detailed delivery plans
- Working with SMEs, solution teams and partners to build aligned workstream plans
- Developing and managing RAID logs, ensuring risks and dependencies are reflected in delivery plans
- Producing high-quality transition artefacts to support bid submissions
- Conducting deliverability and assurance reviews with senior stakeholders
- Driving governance, reporting and continuous improvement across the transition function
What we're looking for:
- Proven experience working on large, complex bids within a programme or project environment
- Strong background in bidding, mobilisation, transition or transformation programmes
- Experience as a senior Project or Programme Manager within a structured delivery environment
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, including senior leadership engagement
- Strong planning, scheduling and RAID management experience
- Ability to bring structure, clarity and control in fast‑paced, ambiguous environments
Highly desirable:
- Procurement or outsourcing bid experience
- Defence or government sector background
- Experience in logistics, infrastructure, supply chain or transportation programmes
Technical skills & qualifications:
- Knowledge of programme and project methodologies (PRINCE2, MSP, PMO frameworks)
- Experience with planning and collaboration tools such as MS Project, Smartsheet and SharePoint
- Degree-level education (or equivalent experience)
- Practitioner level PRINCE2 or APMP, with knowledge of MSP
Security requirements:
- SC Cleared or ability to obtain SC clearance is essential
