HMP Doncaster is a Category B local resettlement prison situated in South Yorkshire, housing a male population of up to 1145 individuals, approximately 200 of whom are young offenders aged 18-20. As a Prison Offender Manager in our Justice and Immigration team, you will build trusting, purposeful relationships with people in custody, helping them work towards their sentence plan goals and supporting their journey towards rehabilitation. Every day, your work will have real purpose. From reducing reoffending to strengthening family connections and preparing individuals for release, you will contribute to meaningful change that has a positive impact on communities and helps create a safer future for everyone.

What you will do

  • Provide guidance and day-to-day support to offenders as they progress through their custodial journey, ensuring their sentence plan is consistently implemented and reviewed.
  • Maintain regular face-to-face contact with offenders and liaise with external partners to support rehabilitation and positive family connections.
  • Broker and coordinate access to activities, programmes and interventions identified within each sentence plan, helping offenders prepare and learn from these opportunities.
  • Identify new risks or issues affecting an offender's progress and work with Probation Offender Managers to review and amend plans.
  • Complete high-quality OASys (Offender Assessment System) assessments, reports and risk management materials within required timescales.
  • Collaborate effectively within the Offender Management Unit (OMU), maintaining professionalism and strong relationships with internal teams and external agencies.
  • Prepare for and attend parole hearings and contribute to public protection processes, including MAPPA (Multi-Agency Public Protection Arrangements) meetings.
  • Take ownership of your development by completing all mandatory training and staying up to date with relevant policy and practice.

  • Excellent administration skills and experience working in a busy office environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • High-level proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • An understanding of Offender Management Unit work.
  • Previous experience of working with Offenders or other vulnerable groups.
  • A degree in Criminal Justice or Psychology.
