As a Graphic Designer in our Media Services team at the UK Defence Academy, you’ll help create high-quality visual content that supports learning, communication and engagement across the Defence Academy and for third-party customers. This is an excellent opportunity for an aspiring designer to develop their skills, gain valuable commercial experience and contribute to meaningful projects in a unique environment.

Working alongside experienced design and production professionals, you’ll support the creation of a wide range of printed and digital materials, helping to communicate complex information in a clear and engaging way. Your work will have purpose, supporting education, professional development and knowledge sharing while giving you the opportunity to grow your expertise and build a successful career in design.

What you’ll do as a Graphic Designer:

  • Produce high-quality graphic design, artwork and visual communication materials for a variety of customers.
  • Support the development of printed and digital content including brochures, reports, posters, presentations, illustrations, signage and other creative assets.
  • Work closely with colleagues and customers to understand requirements and deliver effective design solutions.
  • Apply brand guidelines accurately to ensure all materials are professional, consistent and fit for purpose.
  • Use Adobe Creative Cloud applications and designated artificial intelligence (AI) tools where appropriate to create engaging content.
  • Manage multiple projects and priorities while maintaining excellent attention to detail and meeting agreed deadlines.

  • A qualification / degree in Graphic Design, Creative Media, Visual Communication or a related discipline, or a portfolio that demonstrates your design capability and potential.
  • Experience using Adobe Creative Cloud applications such as InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator through education, work placements, freelance projects or personal work.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive working relationships.
  • A proactive approach, strong willingness to learn and enthusiasm for developing new skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and pride in producing accurate, high-quality work.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities effectively.
