We are looking to recruit a Religious Visitor / Hindu Minister as part of our vibrant Chaplaincy team, to provide person‑centred care and promote hope and direction for residents and staff.
Responsibilities
- Provide pastoral care and ensure spiritual welfare of residents and staff.
- Offer expert faith advice within the establishment and support faith groups in observing religious holy days and festivals.
- Facilitate faith‑specific services and deliver daily statutory duties, including religious induction.
- Deliver awareness programmes for residents, support and train chaplaincy volunteers, and maintain personal spiritual development.
- Attend and contribute to chaplaincy meetings, forums, and multidisciplinary meetings (Safer Custody, Security, Wing forums).
- Acquire, distribute and maintain appropriate religious literature, supplies, and equipment.
- Administer chaplaincy operations, respond to applications and complaints within appropriate timeframes.
- Support efforts to reduce suicide, self‑harm and violence in line with DSO policies.
Qualifications
- Experience delivering religious services, preferably in a custodial or similar environment.
- High level of professionalism and competence in religious and pastoral leadership, including crisis events.
- Working knowledge of other faiths represented in the centre; must meet minimum faith eligibility requirements for Hindu tradition.
- Experience in a multi‑faith environment is advantageous.
- Basic or no English proficiency is acceptable; language is not a barrier.
- Capable of working 5 hours per week.
Legal and Security Role is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974. Employment offers are subject to security clearance checks and approval from the Home Office.
