Full time – 37.5 hours per week. Salary – £27,500 – £33,500 depending on experience & skills, plus Serco benefits. Full UK driving licence must be held. Vehicle and tools provided.
We work with Asylum Accommodation and Support Services to assist individuals through the asylum system, including providing temporary accommodation. As the Maintenance Operative, you are responsible for ensuring all requested repairs—reactive, proactive, and pre‑planned—are carried out to the required standard and within SLA deadlines. You will manage your own workflow and work within a team when necessary and be accountable for health & safety for yourself and all users of the property during and after works have been undertaken and completed. You will purchase and manage materials using a company account card from approved Serco suppliers only. Vehicles provided by the company will be inspected regularly and kept in a professional and clean condition.
Flexible Working Pattern
Mon to Fri; 7.5 hours per day between 08:00 and 18:00 to meet operational needs.
On‑Call & Out of Hours Working
Requirement to undertake out‑of‑hours on‑call duties on a rota basis to ensure 24/7 emergency cover. This will be carried out once every 8‑10 weeks for emergencies.

What you need to do the job
- Willingness and ability to travel within the region and occasionally within the UK.
- A valid UK driver’s licence is essential.
- Previous maintenance experience in joinery, fitting, plumbing, painting & decorating or a related field is required.
