Here at Serco, we work with Asylum Accommodation and Support Services to assist individuals through the asylum system, which includes providing them with temporary accommodation. We have 2 vacancies for Transport Officers to join our team.
As a Transport Officer, the main duties are:
- Driving duties in line with company CSOPS, LOP's to ensure the safe transportation of passengers, furniture, and rubbish clearances.
- Ensuring the vehicle is maintained in line with the company policy and procedures and reporting any defects.
- This role is field based, working across the whole of the Midlands and East of England (MEE) region.
Some of the other duties include:
- Driving company assigned vehicles as required, complying with statutory regulations and company policies and procedures to ensure safe practices.
- Transporting passengers and their dependent children in full compliance with the instructions, regulations and guidelines produced by Serco and agreed by the UKVI.
- Transporting furniture, white goods, appliances, and household items.
- Transporting rubbish clearance of bulky loose waste, including furniture, broken appliances, garden refuse, fly-tipped, home improvement & builders waste.
- Being familiar with the procedures set out for working within the rules of Serco AASC and meeting the requirements of the UKVI contract.
- Maintaining effective communication links with the Service Delivery Centre (SDC) and the Transport Operations team regarding the progress of the passengers or any other appropriate matter.
- Arranging routine servicing and MOT of assigned vehicle, ensuring planned and unplanned works are completed and vehicle is fully compliant.
- Adhering to lone working policies and procedures (Solo Protect).
What you need to do the job:
- Hold a Full driving licence Cat B and have excellent Geographical Knowledge.
- Willingness and ability to travel within the Midlands & East of England (MEE) region, including Leicester, Nottingham, Peterborough, Coventry and Derby, and occasionally within the UK (a valid UK driver's licence is essential).
- IT literate and able to use a system called AORA to manage your workload on a day to day basis.
Vetting and checks:
This role requires Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) clearance, which involves verifying your identity, employment history, nationality, and criminal record to meet government security standards. In addition, depending on the nature of the role, you may need to obtain formal Security Clearance (such as CTC or SC), which includes more detailed background checks on employment, criminal record, and financial history to ensure suitability for working in secure environments. Please note that UK residency requirements may apply for certain levels of clearance. You will also complete an Occupational Health Questionnaire so we can identify and provide any support you may need to undertake the role effectively.
