As an On Street Maintenance Operative in our Cycle Hire team, you’ll play a key role in keeping London moving by ensuring docking stations and bicycles are clean, safe and ready for daily use. A central part of this role is carrying out hub duties, including small scale redistribution of bicycles and providing customer service, helping to make sure cycles are available where and when they’re needed most. Your work will have a direct impact on communities across the city. From maintaining docking stations to redistributing bikes so they’re available where they’re needed most, you’ll help create a smoother, more reliable experience for thousands of people. This is hands‑on work with purpose – no two days will be the same, and you’ll be part of a team that keeps essential services running.
What you’ll do as an On Street Maintenance Operative:
- Clean and maintain Cycle Hire docking stations across the scheme
- Use contract vehicles and equipment to complete cleaning to required standards
- Carry out hub duties, including small‑scale redistribution of bicycles and providing customer service
- Collect abandoned or damaged cycles as instructed by the Control Room

This role requires a Basic DBS check, which will disclose any unspent convictions in line with the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974. You will also complete an Occupational Health Questionnaire to help us identify and provide any support you may need to undertake the role effectively.
