As a Mechanical Lifecycle Works Project Manager in our UK and E Health team, you will lead the delivery of Mechanical Lifecycle Works that help maintain a safe and reliable hospital environment. Your work will help ensure essential services operate smoothly, supporting uninterrupted care for the local community. You’ll play a key role in ensuring Mechanical Lifecycle projects are well planned, well delivered, and aligned to high clinical, operational, and safety standards. By helping keep critical hospital infrastructure functioning at its best, you’ll be making a positive impact where it matters most.
Responsibilities
- Manage and deliver Trust‑initiated Mechanical Lifecycle Works projects, ensuring compliance with time, cost, and quality requirements.
- Support planning, design, and implementation of SPV (Special Purpose Vehicle) Lifecycle project works, interfacing with Estates and Facilities colleagues.
- Prepare tender documentation and evaluate tender returns for Mechanical Lifecycle Works.
- Provide assessment reports on asset condition and identify works necessary to maintain required maintenance standards.
- Participate in environmental and estates condition audits and input into the Annual Programme of works.
- Liaise with the SPV, Trust representatives, external consultants, and contractors to support successful project delivery.
- Carry out assigned Authorised or Responsible Person duties for Mechanical disciplines.
- Deputise for the Lifecycle Manager when required.
Qualifications
- Experience working within Private Finance Initiative (PFI) environments, ideally in healthcare.
- Strong operational and project delivery experience within Hard FM (Facilities Management), including pre‑ and post‑tender activities.
- The ability to interpret technical issues and propose effective solutions across Mechanical and Capital schemes.
- Well‑developed financial and analytical skills, with the ability to work with complex data and produce detailed reports.
- Excellent communication and diplomacy skills, working collaboratively with internal teams and external partners.
Vetting and checks
This role requires a Basic DBS check, which will disclose any unspent convictions in line with the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974. You will also complete an Occupational Health Questionnaire to help us identify and provide any support you may need to undertake the role effectively.
