Schedule: Full time role 37.5 hours per week, working between 8am-5pm Monday to Friday - van and tools provided.
As a Maintenance Operative in our AASC team, you'll play a hands-on role in making sure the properties we manage are safe, functional, and meet the service standards our communities depend on. Your work will have a direct and positive impact on people's day-to-day living conditions. You'll deliver essential maintenance across a designated portfolio, helping us create living environments that are safe, welcoming, and compliant. This is purposeful work where your expertise helps ensure every property meets Home Office requirements and supports a positive experience for the people who live there.
What you'll do as a Maintenance Operative:
- Provide general building maintenance services across a defined property area.
- Report and close faults using the AORA IT system to keep property records accurate.
- Ensure properties are free from building defects in line with Home Office Contract standards.
- Liaise with approved subcontractors, ensuring access, quality standards, and audit checks.
- Undertake annual Portable Appliance Tests (PAT) for all properties in your portfolio.
- Where applicable, deliver specialist trade duties and support colleagues with fault finding.
- Carry out garden maintenance, furniture repairs, and materials management using approved suppliers.
- Manage waste removal responsibly and in line with recycling requirements.
- Complete KPI driven tasks on time, prioritising urgent work and collaborating with Housing Officers.

Vetting and checks:
This role requires Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) clearance, which involves verifying your identity, employment history, nationality, and criminal record to meet government security standards. In addition, depending on the nature of the role, you may need to obtain formal Security Clearance (such as CTC or SC), which includes more detailed background checks on employment, criminal record, and financial history to ensure suitability for working in secure environments. Please note that UK residency requirements may apply for certain levels of clearance. You will also complete an Occupational Health Questionnaire so we can identify and provide any support you may need to undertake the role effectively.
