Overview
Serco Limited – Maintenance Officer, University Hospital Wishaw, Wishaw, ML2 0DP. Full Time, Permanent (37.5 hours per week). Salary – NHS Band 6.
Here at Serco, we are recruiting for a Maintenance Officer to join the Estates team at University Hospital Wishaw. University Hospital Wishaw has over 660 inpatient beds based on site, and numerous areas, wards and departments requiring monitoring.
The Maintenance Officer will be responsible for controlling the work within the Estates department, assigning workload from the Concept CAFM system, ensuring all reactive and PPM planned work is undertaken and provide support to the front-line team ensuring compliance with the PMS. Reporting into the Operations Manager, the Maintenance Officer will be responsible for the management and supervision of a multi-skilled workforce carrying out reactive and planned maintenance, minor improvements, and capital work across the Hospital as directed by management, ensuring compliance with Serco safety standards and procedures. The post holder will be required to provide the duty of On Call Manager within the on-call rota. They will also be required to provide the duties of Authorised Person once all relevant training has been completed and appointment is received from the Authorising Engineer.
Responsibilities
- Ensure work is carried out in accordance with SHTM’s and ACOP’s.
- Manage the personnel within the department to ensure the assets are maintained to the contract requirements.
- Use the CAFM system to assign and track status of all planned and reactive work.
- Manage the contractors who attend site to carry out service/repair works and ensure the safe working practice is adhered to.
- Undertake Authorised Person duties after appointment.
What you’ll need to do the role
- Completed City and Guilds / NVQ or equivalent in Engineering, Plumbing, or Electrical apprenticeship.
- BTEC / ONC in Engineering Services or 5 years equivalent experience as Engineering Technician.
- Sound knowledge of SHTM’s and approved code of practice for relevant fields.
- Understanding of Complex Healthcare systems covering a broad range of mechanical systems.
- Competent Person in either piped medical gas/boiler and pressure systems.
- PC literate and strong understanding of CAFM systems.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar role within a large complex service.
- Previous direct line management of staff.
- People management skills such as recruitment, absence management, disciplinary procedures, etc…
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
