As a Surface Finish Technician 3 in our RAF Coningsby team, you’ll play a hands‑on role preparing aircraft, components, and vital Ministry of Defence assets for repainting – helping keep essential equipment safe, operational, and ready for the future. You’ll be part of a team whose work has a direct positive impact on the availability and safety of aircraft used to protect communities. This is a role with purpose, where you’ll help create impactful solutions that keep people safe while having the headroom to grow your career.
Responsibilities
- Carry out surface finishing tasks in line with required quality policies, procedures, and standards.
- Complete manual (abrading), chemical, and media paint removal on aircraft, aircraft components, and a range of Ministry of Defence ground assets.
- Follow all safety controls, including COSHH (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health) and risk assessments, ensuring only authorised colleagues enter work areas.
- Store all paints and associated materials safely and correctly.
- Challenge or report unsafe or unapproved behaviours, stopping work if safety is compromised.
Qualifications
- A full UK driving licence.
- SC cleared or have no issues obtaining one.
- The ability to follow defined processes and work instructions.
- A willingness to learn – no specialist skills are required, and full training is provided.
