Location: Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead, SL6 1AY

Salary: £14.86 per hour plus excellent benefits

Schedule: Full‑time, 40 hours per week. Shifts: Summer months 8am–8pm, winter months 8am–4.30pm. Outdoor role including weekend work on a rota.

Overview: As a Household Recycling Operative in our Waste Management team, you’ll play a vital role in helping communities recycle responsibly, keeping sites safe, clean, and welcoming for everyone who visits. Your work supports positive environmental outcomes and creates a visible impact on local communities.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with opening and closing the household waste recycling site in line with site procedures
  • Support members of the public to dispose of waste safely and recycle correctly
  • Promote recycling and environmental awareness to site users
  • Monitor waste segregation and remove contamination where necessary
  • Maintain cleanliness, safety, and organisation across the site
  • Use plant, tools, and equipment safely in line with training and instructions

Qualifications:

  • Strong customer service mindset and enjoys working with the public
  • Practical understanding of waste types and recycling, or willingness to learn
  • Good communication skills and basic literacy and numeracy
  • Physical fitness and comfort working outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Proactive, flexible approach and ability to work independently or as part of a team
  • Proficient and competent in IT systems
