Overview: As a Household Recycling Operative in our Waste Management team, you’ll play a vital role in helping communities recycle responsibly, keeping sites safe, clean, and welcoming for everyone who visits. Your work supports positive environmental outcomes and creates a visible impact on local communities.
Responsibilities:
- Assist with opening and closing the household waste recycling site in line with site procedures
- Support members of the public to dispose of waste safely and recycle correctly
- Promote recycling and environmental awareness to site users
- Monitor waste segregation and remove contamination where necessary
- Maintain cleanliness, safety, and organisation across the site
- Use plant, tools, and equipment safely in line with training and instructions
Qualifications:
- Strong customer service mindset and enjoys working with the public
- Practical understanding of waste types and recycling, or willingness to learn
- Good communication skills and basic literacy and numeracy
- Physical fitness and comfort working outdoors in all weather conditions
- Proactive, flexible approach and ability to work independently or as part of a team
- Proficient and competent in IT systems
