Here at Serco, our IT Services team plays a vital role in keeping our business connected, secure and running smoothly. As a Network Analyst, you’ll help maintain, support and continually improve the network services that connect our people, sites and systems across the UK, Europe and our global corporate network. You’ll work across a broad range of network environments, including LAN, WAN, SD-WAN, VPN, Wi-Fi and cloud networking, working closely with operational teams, suppliers and technical partners to ensure our services remain secure, resilient and fit for purpose.
This is a varied role where you’ll combine hands‑on network support and troubleshooting with service improvement, stakeholder management and technical delivery. You’ll have the opportunity to contribute to the development of our network roadmap, support new technology deployments and help identify opportunities to improve performance and user experience.
As part of this you’ll:
- Support the maintenance and operation of secure enterprise network services across LAN, WAN, SD-WAN, VPN, Wi-Fi and cloud environments.
- Monitor, troubleshoot and resolve network incidents and service issues, helping to maintain availability, performance and security.
- Support network deployments and service improvements, working with internal teams and third‑party partners.
- Work closely with Operations, Service Management, Engineering, Security and divisional IT teams to investigate issues and deliver effective solutions.
- Contribute to technical designs, documentation, service transition and the introduction of new or enhanced network services.
- Support the management of network suppliers and third parties, helping to ensure services are delivered effectively and to the required standards.
- Keep up to date with emerging network technologies and industry best practice, identifying opportunities to improve resilience, security and performance.
- Travel to Serco sites and strategic partner locations where required, supporting a multi‑site network environment.
What you’ll need to do the role:
- At least 2 years’ experience in network engineering or network support, with experience of enterprise network environments.
- Good understanding of LAN, WAN, SD-WAN, VPN and Wi-Fi technologies, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, routing and switching.
- Experience monitoring, troubleshooting and supporting network services, using network management and monitoring tools to investigate and resolve issues.
- Working knowledge of cloud networking, ideally across AWS or Azure.
- Experience with enterprise networking and security technologies, ideally including Cisco Meraki and Palo Alto, or equivalent platforms.
- Understanding of network security principles, including firewalls, secure access, network segmentation and zero‑trust approaches.
- Ability to interpret technical documentation, including network architecture diagrams, HLDs and LLDs.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across internal teams and with suppliers and third parties.
- A customer‑focused and solutions‑oriented approach, with strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
- Relevant technical qualifications or certifications such as CCNA, CompTIA Network+, Azure Fundamentals or equivalent are desirable.
- Experience working in a secure, regulated or public sector environment is desirable.
- Willingness and ability to travel to Serco sites and partner locations as required.
- You must already hold, or be able to successfully obtain, SC clearance.
