As a Gas Safe Engineer in our Justice and Immigration Facilities Management team, you'll help ensure a safe, compliant environment that supports the daily running of a secure establishment. You'll use your technical expertise to keep essential systems operating smoothly and reliably. Your work will directly support the safety and wellbeing of colleagues, residents, and visitors. It's a role with purpose, where your skills contribute to a positive impact on communities and help create a future built on trust, care and continuous improvement.

What you'll do as a Gas Safe Engineer:

  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance, repairs and testing of gas systems.
  • Complete fault finding and rectification on installed plant and apparatus.
  • Install new plant and equipment as specified.
  • Support the wider maintenance team by assisting with other plant and equipment.
  • Operate machine tools safely in line with training.
  • Work safely at all times, complying with statutory and local regulations.
  • Investigate plant and equipment performance and produce reports and recommendations.
  • Help specify and source spare parts and equipment to maintain estate performance.
  • Maintain records of tools and report as required.

  • A recognised apprenticeship or equivalent trade-based qualification.
  • City and Guilds Certificate in Gas Servicing.
  • Gas Safe registration with Commercial and Domestic qualifications.
  • Experience working with both Commercial and Domestic systems.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, self-motivation and the ability to work to tight timescales.
  • A logical, methodical approach to prioritising work.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills and competence using databases.

To be a team member of the Facilities Out of hours call out roster.

Vetting and checks: An Enhanced DBS check is required for this role. This includes spent and unspent convictions, cautions, and any relevant information held by local police, in accordance with the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act and safeguarding requirements. You will also complete an Occupational Health Questionnaire to allow us to provide any support needed for you to succeed in the role.
