HMP Dovegate
Full time – 40 hours per week.
Salary – £25,467 per annum
HMP Dovegate is a Category B adult male facility near Uttoxeter, Staffordshire.
Serco cares for up to 1160 male adult prisoners over the age of 21 serving a range of sentences including trial, remand, those awaiting sentence and convicted men serving long and short-term sentences.
We are looking for an Equalities Administrator to provide assistance to the Equalities Manager in their work to ensure that the establishment complies with the legal duty to eliminate unlawful discrimination, to promote both equality of opportunity and good relations between different groups.
Responsibilities
- Asist the Diversity Equality Action Team (DEAT) in achieving its objectives.
- To bring actual or potential problems to the attention of the Equalities Manager.
- To carry out investigations in Equalities complaints as directed by the Equalities Manager.
- Oversee the running of the PC Forums and provide support to staff as and when needed.
- To ensure that Equality data is accurately recorded and stored.
- To assist with the planning and execution of Equalities Awareness Days.
- To always ensure that all records are complete and to enter all details on relevant computer systems, and appropriate local recording systems, including manual and electronic files.
- Creative Communications: Design and distribute engaging content such as posters, notices, and newsletters to promote inclusion events and awareness of protected characteristics.
- Event Support: Assist in planning, organising, and delivering events for national and local inclusion days, working closely with staff and residents.
- Resident Engagement: Liaise with Equality and REAT Reps, support prisoner-facing activities, and conduct PEEP (Personal Emergency Evacuation Plan) assessments.
- Staff Inclusion Support: Help coordinate and facilitate staff forums, provide EDI-related guidance, and contribute to a positive and inclusive workplace culture.
- Data & Analysis: Support the analysis of DIRFs (Discrimination Incident Reporting Forms), issue them to case managers, and assist in reviewing data for disproportionality and trends.
- Meeting Participation: Confidently contribute to meetings, presenting updates and supporting the EDI agenda across departments.
What you will need for the role
- Good computer skills including knowledge of Excel, Word and Outlook applications.
- Strong interpersonal skills, including good verbal and written communication.
- Able to demonstrate resilience with a basic understanding of both conflict resolution and de-escalation and risk and conflict management.
- Commitment to working effectively in a socially diverse environment, with a good team ethic.
- Excellent time management
- Assertive, creative and progressive along with good problem solving skills.
