As an Electrician Grade 1 in our Justice and Immigration Facilities Management team, you’ll play a vital role in maintaining safe, compliant, and fully operational electrical systems within a secure environment. Your work directly supports the smooth running of critical services that impact lives and communities every day. You’ll be part of a team trusted to deliver high standards of maintenance and reliability in a challenging but rewarding setting. From resolving faults to supporting new installations, your expertise will help create a safe and functional environment where colleagues and service users can rely on essential infrastructure.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out fault finding and defect rectification on electrical plant and equipment
  • Deliver planned preventative maintenance to ensure systems remain compliant and operational
  • Install and commission new electrical plant and apparatus
  • Interpret and work from technical drawings and wiring diagrams
  • Support investigations into equipment performance and provide recommendations
  • Maintain accurate records of inspections, maintenance activities, and tools
  • Be a member of the Facilities “Out of hours” call out roster

Qualifications

  • Recognised electrical qualification such as City and Guilds
  • Completed a recognised electrical apprenticeship
  • Qualified to BS7671 (current IEE regulations)
  • At least five years’ relevant post‑apprenticeship experience
  • Strong problem‑solving skills and ability to work independently in a secure environment

Vetting and checks

An Enhanced Level 1 check is required for this role, including spent and unspent convictions, cautions, and any relevant information held by local police in accordance with the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act and safeguarding requirements. You will also complete an Occupational Health Questionnaire to allow us to provide any support needed for you to succeed in the role.
