Serco proudly supports the RAF and MoD, supplying around 20 different services onsite, from engine and aircraft maintenance to fuelling and ground control services. RAF Brize Norton is the largest operating base within the Royal Air Force, providing air transport and air-to-air refuelling to the RAF fleet; you will contribute enormously to the vital work carried out here.
Reporting to Serco Brize Norton Engineering Operations Manager and the customer RAF Brize Norton, the Workshops Team Leader is responsible for the effective delivery of these tasks:
- Machining
- Sheet Metal Work
- Heat Treatment tasks
- Welding
- Fabrication
- Carpentry
Working Regime: Mon-Fri 37 Hour week 08:00 hrs - 17:00 Mon - Thu Overtime as required.
What you'll do as a Workshops Team Leader:
- Ensure that all tasks are completed in a timely fashion and to health and safety, fire, emergency evacuation, quality, risk, and COSHH standards and procedures.
- Maintain a clear, safe, tidy, effective and efficient working environment.
- Adhere to Technical Work Procedures, Health & Safety Instructions, and Serco Operating Procedures.
- Ensure that tasks and supporting documentation are always complete, correct and right first time - every time.

- NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) Engineering qualification
- Ability to effectively and safely complete technical maintenance and rectification tasks.
- Functional IT skills to use Electronic Technical Manuals and to update Maintenance Recording systems.

- High standards of oral and written communication skills.

- Deliver effective, efficient, right first time every time output to our customers.
- Ensure good working practices are in place.
- Compliance with Aircraft Component fabrication requirements.
- Ensure compliance with relevant Quality Systems.
- Ensure appropriate cooperation with all audit activities.
- Implement and promote a Zero Harm Open Reporting Safety Culture.
This role requires Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) clearance, which involves verifying your identity, employment history, nationality, and criminal record to meet government security standards. In addition, you will need to obtain formal Security Clearance (such as CTC or SC), which includes more detailed background checks on employment, criminal record, and financial history to ensure suitability for working in secure environments. Please note that UK residency requirements may apply for certain levels of clearance. You will also complete an Occupational Health Questionnaire so we can identify and provide any support you may need to undertake the role effectively.
