As a Lifeguard you will be an important part of life here at the centre as you ensure that everyone can use the pool in safety and that they have access to everything they need to enjoy their visit. Without you there can't be any pool activity. Our leisure centre has a close-knit and supportive team, all working towards providing an inclusive leisure hub for the entire community. What you'll need to do the role:
- Excellent customer service skills as you'll be interacting heavily with our customers.
- Providing customer care to people of all ages.
- Supervising activities and maintaining high standards of cleanliness in the pool area.
- Ensuring the safe handling and set up of pool equipment.
- Being a strong swimmer, safety conscious, vigilant, and able to deal with pressurised situations.
No previous Lifeguarding experience required, this role is open to anybody who has the desire to be a lifeguard and can meet the minimum requirements in a swim test.
To pass the swim test you must be able to perform the following:
- Jump/dive into deep water
- Swim 50 metres in less than 60 seconds (this is usually 2 lengths of the pool)
- Swim 100 metres continuously on front and back in deep water (this is usually 8 lengths of the pool)
- Tread water for 30 seconds
- Surface dive to the floor of the pool (this is usually no deeper than 2.0m)
- Climb out unaided without ladder/steps and where the pool design permits
