As a Trainee Duty Manager in our Leisure team at The Leys Leisure Centre, you'll play a vital leadership role in keeping the facility running safely, smoothly and efficiently every day. You'll lead colleagues on shift, support exceptional customer experiences, and ensure our services have a positive impact on the local community. This is a hands-on leadership role where your work truly matters. From maintaining high safety and quality standards to responding calmly in emergencies, you'll help create a welcoming, well-managed environment where people of all ages can be active, healthy and connected.
What you'll do as a Trainee Duty Manager:
- Manage the day-to-day operation of the leisure centre, ensuring safe opening and closing procedures are followed at all times.
- Lead, deploy and motivate operational teams to deliver high-quality services across the facility.
- Maintain a strong on-site presence, responding positively to customer needs, feedback and incidents.
- Take control during emergencies, accidents or operational issues, acting calmly and decisively.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety legislation, Serco Management System procedures and site operating plans.
- Support performance, training and engagement of colleagues, including absence management and investigations when required.
You'll be a great fit for this role if you have:
- Preferably knowledge and skills in the Leisure or a related industry in a small/medium sized enterprise.
- Previous operational experience in a leisure, fitness, or customer-facing environment.
- Strong health and safety awareness, with the ability to apply procedures confidently in practice.
- Excellent communication and customer care skills, with a calm approach under pressure.
- Organised working habits and the ability to manage rotas, priorities and changing demands.
- The confidence to lead people, make decisions and set high standards for service and presentation.
