Overview

In this leadership role, you will own and evolve Serco’s Group risk management framework across the UK & Europe Division, translating risk data into actionable insight for executives and the Board. You’ll align risk appetite, principal and emerging risks with strategy, while embedding resilience and crisis management across the division. You work closely with senior leaders to ensure risk-informed decision‑making and a coherent view of control effectiveness. This position offers strategic influence, cross‑functional impact, and the chance to shape risk culture at scale.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and evolve the Group risk management framework to stay aligned with strategy and external environment
  • Own risk appetite development and ensure it informs strategic and operational decisions
  • Lead the principal and emerging risk process with effective challenge and link to strategic priorities
  • Horizon scan for threats and opportunities using internal/external intelligence
  • Provide senior leadership and Board with clear risk insight and actionable trends
  • Oversee Group risk framework implementation in UK&E with divisional leadership
  • Integrate risk, controls and assurance for a coherent view of control effectiveness
  • Lead resilience planning and testing, ensuring robust business continuity and crisis management
  • Oversee scenario analysis and stress testing to identify vulnerabilities
  • Own and enhance Riskonnect data quality and risk insight generation
  • Build risk culture and ownership, moving away from a purely compliance-led approach
  • Collaborate with Internal Audit and governance to create a joined-up risk view

Key requirements

  • Senior-level enterprise risk management experience in a large, complex, multinational organisation
  • Deep knowledge of risk frameworks, appetite, principal and emerging risks
  • Experience supporting Executive, Board and Audit Committee oversight
  • Proven ability to translate complex risk information into executive insight
  • Experience operating in a PLC or similarly regulated environment
  • Ability to challenge senior leaders and build trusted relationships
  • Pragmatic, business-focused approach balancing governance with operational realities
  • Strong leadership and communication skills to build risk capability across a large organisation
