Here at Serco, we’re looking for an experienced Analytics Manager to help shape how we use data and analytics to support better decision-making. This is a hands-on technical management role where you’ll combine your expertise in Databricks, data modelling, cloud analytics and Power BI with strong stakeholder management skills. You’ll lead a small team of three direct reports while also getting involved in the technical detail – designing solutions, solving complex data challenges and setting standards for how analytics is delivered across Serco.
Reporting to the Head of Analytics Practice, you’ll work across multiple teams and with senior stakeholders to turn complex data and business requirements into reliable, scalable and easy-to-use analytics solutions.
As part of this you’ll:
- Lead the design, development and optimisation of complex, analysis-ready datasets using Databricks and cloud technologies.
- Be hands-on in designing data models, analytics solutions and enterprise data products, while providing technical direction to the wider team.
- Lead the delivery of complex analytics and reporting projects, resolving technical blockers and supporting teams through challenging data problems.
- Shape and oversee Power BI dashboards, reports, semantic models and KPI frameworks, ensuring data is consistent, trusted and easy to understand.
- Establish and maintain standards for data quality, governance, testing, documentation and data lineage.
- Work closely with Data Engineers, Analysts and Data Scientists to improve analytics capability and enable self-service reporting.
- Act as a subject matter expert across Databricks, cloud analytics and BI, providing technical guidance and making pragmatic decisions about the right solution for the business.
- Build strong relationships with Directors and senior stakeholders, understanding their requirements and translating business challenges into effective data and analytics solutions.
- Lead, coach and develop three direct reports, helping to build technical capability and a strong analytics community.
- Support continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to simplify, standardise and improve how Serco uses data and analytics.
What you’ll need to do the role:
- Strong experience working in enterprise-scale analytics, data engineering and/or business intelligence, with a track record of delivering complex analytics solutions.
- Extensive hands-on experience with Databricks and a strong understanding of lakehouse architecture, data optimisation, governance and Unity Catalog.
- Strong data modelling experience, with the ability to design robust and scalable data models for complex analytical environments.
- Strong experience with Power BI and enterprise reporting, including semantic modelling, dashboards and KPI frameworks.
- Experience working with Azure or AWS analytics and data services.
- Strong understanding of data quality, governance, testing, metadata, documentation and lineage.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to work confidently with senior leaders and translate technical concepts into clear business outcomes.
- Experience leading, mentoring or managing technical teams, with the ability to balance technical delivery with people leadership.
- A hands-on, pragmatic approach – you’re comfortable getting into the detail when required rather than simply providing strategic oversight.
- Significant experience working in an enterprise analytics environment, typically around 8+ years.
- dbt skills are a bonus.
- SC clearance or the ability to achieve it will be required for this role.
