Serco is seeking a Maintenance Operative to support Asylum Accommodation and Support Services in Wigan. The role is responsible for carrying out all repair work—reactive, proactive, and scheduled—to the required standard and within SLA deadlines while ensuring health & safety for all users of the property.
Responsibilities
- Plan and execute reactive and proactive maintenance tasks to maintain property standards.
- Manage own workload and coordinate with the team as required.
- Ensure health & safety compliance during and after works.
- Purchase and manage materials using a company account card from approved Serco suppliers.
- Inspect company vehicles regularly, keeping them clean and professional.
- Provide 24/7 emergency cover on a rota basis, performing on-call duties once every 8–10 weeks.
Qualifications
- Previous maintenance experience in joinery, fitting, plumbing, painting & decorating, or a related field.
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel within the region and occasionally within the UK.
- Ability to pass security clearance checks and obtain Home Office approval.
Working Pattern & Schedule
- Mon to Fri: 7.5 hours per day, 08:00‑18:00.
- On‑call and out‑of‑hours duties scheduled on a rotating rota.
Compensation & Benefits
- Annual salary of £33,500, dependent on experience and skills.
