We are seeking a Metrics Analyst with Navy experience to help senior leaders leverage data for strategic decision‑making. This role is ideal for a former Navy professional who understands shipboard operations, readiness, and maintenance, and knows how to guide the development of impactful dashboards. You won’t just build dashboards—you’ll shape what data matters most and how it should be presented working in the Washington DC metro area. This individual will play a vital role in engaging senior Navy leaders and providing valuable insights through data analysis.
Responsibilities
- Apply shipboard maintenance experience and data analytics expertise to support the chain of command from senior Navy leaders to waterfront project managers and specialists in making informed ship maintenance and logistics decisions.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to gather and analyze relevant data from shipboard operations and other sources; employ statistical analysis and data visualization tools to extract insights and communicate findings.
- Develop data‑driven reports, briefings, and presentations for senior Navy leadership; translate complex technical data into executive‑level insights, reports, and recommendations.
- Support the development of metrics frameworks, ensuring alignment with Fleet and Headquarters strategic objectives.
- Foster strong working relationships with Navy personnel and stakeholders to align data analytics efforts with organizational objectives.
- Provide strategic guidance on the design and application of dashboards in Power BI, Tableau, and Jupyter.
- Produce written deliverables including reports, spreadsheets, databases, formal process mapping, technical design, system testing, and implementation activities explaining findings and recommendations for managers, executives, and other officials.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree and 6 years of relevant experience.
- US citizenship and an active DoD Secret Security clearance.
- Strong background in data analytics, including statistical analysis, data visualization, and advanced analytic techniques in a DOD setting.
- Proficiency in leveraging data to support decision‑making processes and drive operational improvements.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively convey complex data insights to senior Navy leaders.
- Familiarity with data sources and systems commonly used in the naval environment.
- Advanced competency with Microsoft Office suite of tools (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.).
- Experience with data visualization using Qlik and/or Tableau.
- Minimal 10% travel is expected.
Desired Skills
- NAVSEA or Navy experience.
- Experience with depot‑level overhaul, maintenance and modernization activities.
- Algorithm writing experience with Python and similar AI/ML languages.
- Familiarity with Navy maintenance and readiness data systems (e.g., OARS, VSB, CASREP, or equivalent).
- DoD experience or Naval surface ship experience preferred.
- Education or certification in data analytics, computer science, or a related field is preferred.
