Serco is seeking a Cyber Security Systems Engineer/ Information Systems Security Engineer (ISSE) to support the 705th CTS Distributed Mission Operations Center Infrastructure Development and Engineering (DMOC-IDE) team at Kirtland Air Force Base in Albuquerque, New Mexico. This position is a critical role in securing systems that support simulation software, network infrastructure, and Live‑Virtual‑Constructive (LVC) Distributed Mission Operations (DMO). You will ensure cybersecurity policy implementation, conduct risk assessments, and support system certification and accreditation activities.

Responsibilities

  • Perform key systems engineering elements to meet a given program's requirements.
  • Assist with the design and develop system security architectures (Ansible, Splunk, ACAS).
  • Assist with the definition of key capabilities and performance requirements.
  • Perform detailed trade studies, requirements allocation, and interface definition studies to assist with the translation of customer requirements into hardware and software specifications as they pertain to system security.
  • Develop an understanding of system interfaces and how to protect them.
  • Assist with ensuring the product requirements integrate into the total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints.
  • Develop modifications to existing products to meet unique customer needs, and support or lead the development of system security functions.
  • Support technical work products developed by the larger engineering team, supporting design reviews and integration and test activities as needed.
  • Present solutions to customers and senior management using tailored material based on the audience.
  • Manage and maintain key security software (e.g. Splunk, ACAS, Nessus, etc).
  • Assist ISSM in assessment preparation and ATO maintenance to meet JSIG requirements.

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, or related discipline with 5 years of experience in information security in relation to DoD systems.
  • An active DoD Secret Security clearance.
  • The ability to obtain Special Program Access (SAP) prior to start.
  • Experience in performing assessments of systems and networks within the network environment or enclave to identify where those systems/networks deviate from acceptable configurations as defined in NIST SP 800-53 r5 in support of system accreditation under RMF.
  • Experience in conducting comprehensive assessments of the management, operational, and technical security controls and control enhancements employed within or inherited by DoD information technology (IT) systems to determine the overall effectiveness of the controls.
  • Experience in developing and maintaining Cybersecurity artifacts in support of ongoing system accreditation.
  • Experience in conducting comprehensive technology research to evaluate potential vulnerabilities in cyberspace systems and provide recommendations for risk mitigation.
  • System Engineering knowledge of DoD based Platforms, Sensors and/or Sub-systems.
  • Familiarity with requirements development and derivation or validation and verification.
  • Minimum Information Assurance Technician (IAT) Level II certification.

Additional Desired Experience and Skills

  • Experience with hardware design, design verification and testing.
  • Experience working on cross-domain environments.
  • Experience working with Government agencies.
  • Experience in technical leadership role(s).
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with experience contributing to and/or making technical presentations to internal and external customers.
  • IAT Level III certification.
  • Ability to travel occasionally CONUS (at least 10%).
