As a Plumber / Gas Safe Engineer in our Justice and Immigration Facilities Management team, you'll play a key role in maintaining gas systems and plumbing infrastructure within a secure environment. Your work will help ensure essential services remain safe, compliant, and reliable for everyone on site. This is more than a maintenance role. You'll be supporting systems that communities rely on every day, helping to create safe, well‑functioning environments while delivering a positive impact through your expertise, care, and commitment to high standards.
What you'll do as a Plumber / Gas Safe Engineer:
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance, repairs, and testing of gas systems and plumbing installations throughout the establishment and cells.
- Diagnose faults and complete defect rectification on plant and equipment.
- Install new plant, systems, and equipment as required.
- Support colleagues across the maintenance team with wider site activities.
- Maintain accurate schedules, records, and reports on work completed.
- Investigate equipment performance issues and provide recommendations for improvement.
Qualifications:
- A recognised trade apprenticeship or equivalent plumbing qualification (City and Guilds or NVQ).
- Gas Safe registration with relevant commercial and domestic gas qualifications.
- Experience working with both commercial and domestic systems.
- Strong problem‑solving skills with the ability to work independently and prioritise workload.
- Good communication skills and a proactive approach to teamwork and continuous improvement.
Vetting and checks:
An Enhanced DBS check is required for this role. This includes spent and unspent convictions, cautions, and any relevant information held by local police, in accordance with the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act and safeguarding requirements. You will also complete an Occupational Health Questionnaire to allow us to provide any support needed to succeed in the role.

Band 6: Permanent, Full Time Monday‑Friday 08:00 – 16:30, part of the on‑call rota, with weekly on‑call payments of £160.00 per designated call week. Salary up to £37,000 + LWA £6,200 per annum + Benefits Package.
