We're recruiting Operational Support Officers (OSOs) for night shifts as part of our team at HMP and YOI Doncaster. These roles are critical to the safe, secure and effective running of the establishment and provide essential operational support to frontline prison staff.

The role: As an Operational Support Officer, you will play a key role in maintaining the day-to-day operation of the prison. While this is not a Prison Officer role, it is operationally focused and based within a secure environment. Depending on the position, duties may include:

  • Managing entry and exit points to the prison, including gate operations
  • Controlling access for staff, visitors, contractors and vehicles
  • Supporting internal prison operations and movement control
  • Monitoring security systems and communications
  • Carrying out searches and security checks in line with procedures
  • Supporting night-time operations where required
  • Conducting welfare checks on prisoners and monitoring prisoners during the night
  • Completing accurate records and reports
  • Working closely with Prison Officers and other operational teams
