You will learn additional skills during a 10 week training course and through experienced colleagues.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise prisoners during all prison wing activities.
  • Oversee work and education programmes, encouraging prisoner participation.
  • Handle operational matters such as prisoner headcounts, cell searches, security, and administrative processes.
  • Manage prisoners at risk of self harm.
  • Work 24/7, covering shifts on days, evenings, weekends, nights, and bank holidays on a rota basis to allow work life balance.
  • Recruitment & Training

Applicants will attend a competency based interview and short Maths and English assessments.

Successful candidates undergo a 10 week Initial Training Course (ITC) consisting of 8 weeks classroom training and 2 weeks shadowing, culminating in a Diploma in Custodial Care, First Aid and Control and Restraint training.

Eligibility & Security Clearance

This role is not eligible for Skilled Worker visa sponsorship. Applicants must have a valid right to work in the UK and meet the following minimum eligibility criteria:

  • At least two years remaining on the current visa.
  • Lived in the UK for at least one year.

All offers are subject to security clearance checks and satisfactory employment references.

Applicants must provide five years of employment and education history.

The role is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and requires an Enhanced Level 2 clearance with Enhanced DBS (adult and child barring) and a Ministry of Justice vetting clearance.
