HMP & YOI Doncaster, Marsh Gate, Doncaster DN5 8UX

£26,510 per annum

Permanent, full time, night-duty, 40hrs pw, working on a 7 on/7 off rota basis.

We're recruiting Operational Support Officers (OSOs) for night shifts as part of our team at HMP and YOI Doncaster. These roles are critical to the safe, secure and effective running of the establishment and provide essential operational support to frontline prison staff.

The role:

  • Managing entry and exit points to the prison, including gate operations
  • Controlling access for staff, visitors, contractors and vehicles
  • Supporting internal prison operations and movement control
  • Monitoring security systems and communications
  • Carrying out searches and security checks in line with procedures
  • Supporting night-time operations where required
  • Conducting welfare checks on prisoners and monitoring prisoners during the night
  • Completing accurate records and reports
  • Working closely with Prison Officers and other operational teams

You will be expected to follow strict security protocols at all times and contribute to a safe and professional working environment.

Additional Information:

This role is not eligible for Skilled Worker visa sponsorship under current UK Home Office rules, as it does not meet the required salary or skill level criteria. Candidates who already have a valid right to work in the UK through other immigration routes or permissions must meet the below minimum eligibility criteria:

  • Have at least two years remaining on your current visa to ensure sufficient time in the role
  • Have lived in the UK for at least one year

This role is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974, and all offers of employment are subject to security clearance checks, and satisfactory employment references. You’ll be required to provide 5 years of employment and education history as part of these checks. You will be required to obtain Ministry of Justice Enhanced Level 2 Clearance & Enhanced DBS with adult and child barring vetting clearances (which required 5 years of checkable history).
