Position Summary: We are seeking an experienced and proactive Building Services Manager to lead the delivery of mechanical engineering, statutory compliance and safe systems of work across a complex and highly regulated estate. The role combines office‑based management with on‑site technical leadership, supervising directly employed engineers and specialist contractors and ensuring planned and reactive maintenance is completed in line with performance, safety and compliance requirements.

Responsibilities:

  • Act as the Qualified Supervisor, ensuring all works meet standards required for F‑Gas, Gas Safe and OFTEC accreditations.
  • Oversee inspection, testing and maintenance activities across mechanical plant, HVAC systems, pressure systems, steam, compressed air, industrial gases, water systems and LEV equipment.
  • Maintain robust governance of risk assessments, method statements, permits to work and contractor controls in accordance with JSP 375 and statutory regulations.
  • Review new installations, refurbishments and handover documentation to ensure assets are compliant before entering service.
  • Maintain oversight of CAFM records, asset information, technical drawings and lifecycle planning.
  • Maintain close collaboration with internal teams, Authorising Engineers, DSTL Estates, DIO representatives, supply chain partners and external auditors.
  • Mentor engineers and Authorised Persons, and promote a strong safety culture.

About You: To be successful you will have significant experience in a mechanical engineering leadership role, ideally within MOD, healthcare, industrial or similarly regulated environments. You will have strong knowledge of mechanical building services, HVAC systems, Pressure Systems Regulations, Gas Safe, OFTEC, F‑Gas, JSP 375, SFG20 and CDM regulations. You should hold a recognised mechanical qualification such as NVQ or City.
