Serco is looking for a Furniture Driver. You will be responsible for the safe and timely delivery, installation and collection of United States Air Force household furniture and appliances to various destinations of residence across the UK.

Main Accountabilities:

  • Ensuring safe transport of furniture and appliances, carefully loading vehicles and delivering items on time and without damage.
  • Making homes comfortable by positioning furniture as requested and installing white goods with care, giving customers confidence that everything works perfectly.
  • Providing reassurance face-to-face, supporting customers during the busy and often stressful process of moving home.
  • Keeping operations running smoothly by assisting with warehouse tasks like cleaning, testing, stock checks, and safe storage.
  • Supporting logistics by helping supervisors schedule deliveries and collections, occasionally involving overnight stops.
  • Maintaining standards by keeping vehicles, tools, and equipment clean, safe, and ready for use.

What you will need to do the role:

  • To have experience of regular driving commitments.
  • To be able to communicate with customers in a polite manner.
  • Able to work as part of a team.
  • Full clean driving license.
  • Be physically fit and able to lift heavy items.

The role is subject to gaining the appropriate Security Clearance. Hold a Drivers Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) Card (desirable) and Forklift Licence (desirable).

This role requires Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) clearance, which involves verifying your identity, employment history, nationality, and criminal record to meet government security standards. In addition, depending on the nature of the role, you may need to obtain formal Security Clearance (such as CTC or SC), which includes more detailed background checks on employment, criminal record, and financial history to ensure suitability for working in secure environments.

Please note that UK residency requirements may apply for certain levels of clearance. You will also complete an Occupational Health Questionnaire so we can identify and provide any support you may need to undertake the role effectively.
