Post Lecturer in Electrical Installation Ref S12/25 Salary £30,000 – £39,495 per annum (plus £3,067 Threshold and £1,596 Deane Payment if applicable) Starting Salary Lecturer Scale Point 3 – £34088 per annum Directorate Curriculum and Information Services School School of Built Environment Reports to Head of School Built Environment Location Campus to be confirmed, however, the appointee will be required to be available for work at any of the College sites as required. Hours of work 1 FTE. 36 hours per week. The annual hours are 1440 of which up to 828 for student contact time and the remainder for associated duties. However, the post holder will be required to adopt a flexible approach (including evening work) and to devote such time as may be required by the exigencies of the service. JOB PURPOSE To become a member of the teaching team in current courses of study and assist with future developments. MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 1 Plan, deliver and assess a range of programmes from Level 1 to Level 5. 2 Fulfil the role of class tutor with administrative and pastoral responsibilities. 3 Develop ILT resources appropriate for teaching and learning in the subject area and promote the use of library and resource centres. 4 Review and evaluate quality of provision in line with IQ: RS and awarding body requirements. 5 Participate in staff training and development activities to update and enhance own knowledge, skills and professional competence needed to carry out the role effectively. 6 Contribute to and participate in marketing, recruitment, induction and other appropriate events. 7 Co-ordinate programmes of study. 8 Participate in subject and school team meetings. 9 Contribute to the co-ordination and organisation of educational visits and work-based learning. 10 Organise, participate in and supervise students during residential events. 11 Contribute to the development of new full-time and part-time related courses throughout the School to meet the needs of the workforce and other relevant stakeholders. 12 Complete as required all administrative tasks associated with the post. 13 Participate in achieving outcomes required by the Training Organisation to achieve funding. 14 Liaise with employers, Sector Skills Council and Awarding Bodies 15 To mentor students for competitions. 16 Attend and/or chair appropriate meetings. 17 Any other duties as required by the Head of School and Deputy Head of School and may be required to carry out teaching and non-teaching duties on all of the College campuses NOTES 1. This process will include the assessment and effective control of all acceptable risk situations. 9.All Budget holders will be responsible for ensuring the delivery of a balanced budget across their area of responsibility, including the delivery of any agreed cost improvement programmes. 10. Staff will be expected to participate in staff training and development activities to update and enhance their own knowledge, skills and professional competence needed to fulfil the role effectively. 11.Please note that a waiting list may be created from this post from which further appointments may be made should the same or a similar post arise within six months of the interview date. Please note such posts may be based at any College Campus. Selection Criteria Lecturer in Electrical Installation Essential Assessment Criteria 1.Hold GCSE English (Grade A-C) / Essential Skills Level 2 (or higher) in Communication; and GCSE Maths (Grade A-C) / Essential Skills Level 2 (or higher) in Numeracy, or NICATS Access Maths Modules or equivalent 2. Hold a full NVQ Level 3 or above apprenticeship in Electrical Installation or equivalent. 3. Hold a Level 5 qualification in the relevant curriculum area or be prepared to obtain a Level 5 qualification within two years of appointment. 4.Have a minimum of 2 years experience of working with Electrical Installations on domestic, commercial, or industrial contracts. 5. Currently qualified as an approved Assessor and hold an A1 award orbe prepared to obtain an Assessor qualification 6. Demonstrate a high level of competency in the use of Microsoft Office Suite. 7.Have excellent administrative, planning and organisational skills. 8. Demonstrate a proven ability to work effectively as part of a team. 9.Have excellent interpersonal and communications skills, both written and oral. Desirable Assessment Criteria: 1.Hold a recognised teaching qualification. 2. Currently qualified as an approved Internal Verifier and hold an IV / IQA award or be prepared to obtain an IV / IQA qualification **Please note Essential Criteria 6-9 will be assessed at interview only. The above are minimum criteria. These may be enhanced at the discretion of the Selection Panel.
