Our client is a leading and well-established Trust with multiple schools in the North West. Established for many years, they are well respected in their field, achieving and delivering world-class inclusive education. We are now looking for an experienced IT Manager to be based at one of the large high schools which has a strong record of academic achievement and joined the Trust relatively recently. They have had big investment into their IT services and infrastructure, making it an exciting time to join as there is lots more to do as they drive the school and their technology offering forward.

We are looking for someone technically capable, responsible for the day-to-day management, support, and development of the ICT infrastructure within the secondary school. The role ensures the stability, security, and effective operation of the school’s network systems, supporting both curriculum and administrative functions.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Working closely with the Senior Leadership team to develop the school's technology and infrastructure.
  • Proactively manage and plan budgets and spend to maximise the school's IT performance and efficiency.
  • Work closely with the central infrastructure team on escalated issues or complex projects.
  • Work closely with the field engineers if additional support is required.
  • Hands-on in terms of managing the day-to-day IT services and functions, handling both proactive and reactive issues.
  • Managing the additional devices such as interactive whiteboards and iPads.
Main skills and experience:
  • Experience in network/system administration.
  • Strong understanding of Windows Server, Active Directory, Group Policy.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft 365, including Exchange Online and SharePoint.
  • Familiarity with common educational MIS platforms such as SIMS, Arbor.
  • Some experience with networking hardware such as switches, firewalls, VLANs.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and analytical skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication abilities.
  • Able to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding responsibilities in IT such as web filtering, monitoring tools.
  • Experience with mobile device management (MDM), Intune.
