Responsible for sampling and testing processed biomass materials in line with company procedures and supply contracts. Provides quality support to third-party fuel suppliers through site visits, sampling, audits, and analysis monitoring. Works closely with internal and external stakeholders to ensure product quality, offering guidance to support fuel production for the power plant. The role includes regular travel to supplier sites, with occasional overnight stays, and is a key part of the regional Quality Control team.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct sampling and testing to ensure material quality meets contractual standards.
- Manage day-to-day laboratory activities, including sample preparation and external testing.
- Monitor and report on quality performance, highlighting any non-conformances.
- Carry out audits and site visits to third-party suppliers to ensure compliance.
- Liaise with internal teams, clients, and suppliers to maintain quality across the supply chain.
- Produce accurate, timely reports and maintain quality data records.
- Stay up to date with quality control legislation and best practice.
- Provide support across locations and undertake additional duties as required.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
Essential
- Competent in IT, including Microsoft Office (particularly Excel for reporting).
- Understanding of technical terminology.
- Full, clean UK driving licence.
- Experience in material testing and/or internal auditing (training provided).
- Strong organisational skills with high attention to detail and accuracy in documentation.
- Ability to work to deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Safety-focused approach to work at all times.
- Confident communicator, able to engage with colleagues at all levels.
Desirable
- First Aid and/or Fire Marshal certification.
- Statistical or chemical qualification.
