Purpose:
Collaborate closely with the Design, Technical, and Production teams to ensure smooth and successful product development from concept to final execution. Please note: this is a freelance opportunity, which could be part-time or project-based depending on availability. We’d appreciate it if you could let us know your availability, day rate and preferred working arrangement, and we can discuss next steps from there.
Accountabilities:
- Design and develop innovative, high-quality knitwear pieces for seasonal collections.
- Translate creative concepts into detailed sketches and CADs.
- Provide comprehensive construction and finishing instructions for all knitwear designs.
- Create and maintain accurate technical sketches and tech packs throughout the design lifecycle.
- Lead yarn research and selection, applying expert knowledge of knitting techniques, stitch structures, and finishing methods.
- Participate in fit sessions for all knitwear styles and ensure feedback is clearly communicated and implemented.
- Attend supplier meetings and industry trade fairs as required.
- Contribute to Seraphine’s ongoing sustainability initiatives and practices.
Requirements:
- 5+ years’ of relevant experience.
- A strong background in knitwear design with a BA degree preferable.
- Expertise in yarn development, technical & industrial knowledge of knitwear is essential.
- Well-informed about industry trends, the market, and competitors.
- Strong CAD design skills with proficiency in Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator.
- Basic proficiency in Outlook, Excel and Word.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate and share information.
- Highly organised, with attention to detail.
- Able to work independently and as part of a team.
