Join a leading investor in space, dual-use and strategic deep tech as a paid Investment Intern and work on live investing across venture and growth-stage companies in space, communications and strategic deep tech. This is a real investment role with meaningful responsibility, designed for people who want to build a career in venture investing. The strongest candidates may have the opportunity to progress into a permanent Analyst role at the end of the internship.

About us: Seraphim is a leading investor in space, dual-use and strategic deep tech, with a team of around 20 based in London and San Francisco. We invest globally across venture and growth-stage companies and manage around $500m AUM across our funds, with more than 40 portfolio companies. We launched our first early-stage SpaceTech fund in 2016. In 2021, we launched Seraphim Space Investment Trust, our evergreen growth-stage vehicle. More recently, we closed Seraphim Space Ventures II, our second early-stage venture fund, at $108m. We are actively investing from pre-seed to Series A, while also backing more mature category leaders through our growth platform.

We invest in companies operating in space, enabled by space, or supporting the wider ecosystem, including businesses built on space-derived data, communications and PNT. In practice, that includes satellites, communications, geospatial intelligence, weather, autonomy, manufacturing and other strategic technologies where space infrastructure or capability is central. Our portfolio includes ICEYE and HawkEye 360 in intelligence and situational awareness, Xona in resilient PNT, Skylo in direct-to-device connectivity, and Tomorrow.io in next-generation weather intelligence. Together, these companies show how space and space-enabled technologies increasingly underpin security, resilience, communications and defence-relevant capability.

At the early-stage end of the market, we back companies such as Hubble, Atmos and Delos. These sit alongside a broader opportunity set that ranges from radically better wildfire insurance built on satellite-based models, to in-space manufacturing and return, to companies taking therapies manufactured in space into FDA clinical trials. Working at Seraphim means investing in technologies and companies that matter in the real world.

About the role: You will be joining our Investment Team, which is responsible for deal origination, investing, portfolio management across the US, Europe and RoW, and selected fund operations work. As an Investment Intern you will be an integral part of the team and report into an Associate and/or Principal. You will work across both our venture and growth capital funds, and gain exposure to all aspects of the investor role. We are particularly interested in candidates who bring deep research experience in a relevant technical field and who are excited by the role start-ups play in turning breakthrough technologies into real products and companies.

The role is based in London. The internship is expected to run for six months. The Investment Team is in the office together on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays.

About you: First and foremost, we are looking for someone who both fits well into our team and brings something distinctive to it. We value people who are thoughtful, curious, proactive and excited to do the full job of an early-career investor. For this profile, we are particularly interested in candidates who bring deep research experience in a relevant technical field and who are excited by the role start-ups play in turning breakthrough technologies into real products and companies.

At Seraphim, that matters because many of the companies we assess are built on complex technical claims, ambitious product roadmaps, and markets where technical feasibility and commercial relevance have to be judged together. We value people who understand from first-hand experience what it takes to create something genuinely new in science or engineering: the uncertainty, the iteration, the false starts, and the discipline needed to tell the difference between a compelling idea and a result that truly stands up.

This role may be a strong fit if you bring:

    • A PhD or substantial equivalent research training or experience in a relevant technical field such as physics, engineering, chemistry, computer science, AI, robotics, materials science, aerospace, manufacturing, or a related technical discipline.
    • A strong interest in start-ups and investing, and a belief that start-ups are one of the most important ways new technologies make it out of the lab and into the world.
    • Excellent analytical and communication skills, including the ability to summarise your thinking clearly in writing and in presentations, and to engage thoughtfully with highly technical founders and senior executives.
    • High levels of initiative, independence and intellectual curiosity. You should be comfortable taking ownership of work, asking good questions, and making progress in a small team with high expectations.
    • Fluency in English and the right to work in the UK.
