Location: Edinburgh OR Glasgow, Scotland (Can work from either office)

Are you an experienced Multi-Utility Design Engineer with strong electrical design knowledge and experience estimating DNO projects? Looking for a role with one of Scotland's leading infrastructure organisations where you can work on a wide variety of utility projects from conception through to completion?

Due to continued growth, we are looking to recruit an experienced MU Design Engineer / Estimator to join our expanding design team based in either Bellshill or Livingston.

The Role

  • You'll be responsible for producing safe, compliant and commercially viable multi-utility designs from initial enquiry through to installation and adoption.
  • Working closely with project teams, clients, DNOs/IDNOs and local authorities, you'll ensure every design meets the required technical, regulatory and commercial standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Produce multi-utility designs across electricity, gas and water projects
  • Prepare estimates for DNO projects, primarily within Scotland
  • Develop safe, compliant and cost-effective network designs
  • Liaise with DNOs, IDNOs, local authorities and statutory bodies
  • Work closely with project delivery teams throughout the lifecycle of each project
  • Ensure all designs comply with current industry standards and accreditation requirements
  • Support projects from concept through design, installation and commissioning
  • Produce technical documentation and design packs
  • Assist with design reviews and technical queries

About You

We're looking for someone who has proven experience within the multi-utility sector and is comfortable designing and estimating utility infrastructure projects.

Essential Requirements

  • Previous experience as a Multi-Utility Design Engineer, Design Engineer or Estimator
  • Experience in power or water
  • Experience estimating DNO projects in Scotland
  • Good understanding of DNO/IDNO standards and specifications
  • Experience delivering multi-utility projects
  • HNC (or equivalent) in an Engineering discipline
  • Proficient using design software such as Windebut and/or Gasworks
  • Strong technical documentation skills
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders

Desirable

  • Knowledge of gas utility design
  • Experience working within an ICP or Multi-Utility contractor
